This spring, Brooklyn is stepping into the spotlight as a hub for innovation and opportunity with Brooklyn Builds the Future: Career & Innovation Fest—a dynamic, one-day event designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving world of work.
Bringing together more than 300 high school and college students, the festival will connect young people with leaders across technology, business, and entrepreneurship in an immersive, hands-on environment. Hosted at St. Francis College and produced by Next YE Development, the event goes far beyond the traditional career fair model.
Instead, it reimagines career exploration as an interactive experience—part technology expo, part innovation challenge, and part career accelerator—offering students a direct pathway into the industries shaping tomorrow’s economy.
Inspired by the high-energy atmosphere of global tech showcases and the collaborative intensity of academic competitions, the festival introduces participants to cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, and entrepreneurship. But unlike passive events, this experience is built on participation.
Throughout the day, students will engage in live hackathons and coding sprints, test their ideas in startup simulations and pitch sessions, and compete in business and entrepreneurship challenges. Hands-on STEM demonstrations will bring technical concepts to life, while dedicated networking opportunities will allow students to connect directly with industry professionals.
A diverse group of leading organizations has already signed on to participate, including Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase, Pfizer, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, CanvaEdu, Job Corps, and Workforce1, with additional partners expected to join. Through interactive booths, workshops, and mentorship, these organizations will help students explore tangible career pathways across sectors like technology, healthcare, engineering, and business.
“Students deserve more than a brochure about their future—they deserve to experience it,” said Michelle Blue, Founder of Next YE Development. “When young people engage directly with innovation and real industry leaders, they move from wondering what’s possible to understanding how to get there.”

The event arrives at a critical moment. As automation, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship continue to reshape the workforce, access to meaningful, real-world career experiences remains uneven—particularly for students in underserved communities. Brooklyn Builds the Future was created to address this gap, replacing passive exposure with active learning and real engagement.
By the end of the day, students won’t just leave with inspiration—they’ll walk away with practical skills, expanded networks, and a clearer vision for their future.
