Gail Lewis has a passion for and a commitment to teaching. Professionally, Gail Lewis teaches Communications at the City University of New York. When not in a lecture hall instructing undergraduates, Professor Lewis may be found volunteering in the community teaching presentation skills and public speaking. As Vice President of Public Relations of The Cambria Heights Toastmasters Club, Ms. Lewis is dedicated to promoting good communication skills in her community.
An award-winning emcee and speaker, Ms. Lewis is New York City’s 2012 and 2016 Toastmasters Table Topics Public Speaking Grand Champion. Additionally, in March of 2015, she was humbled to be honored as a Woman of Distinction by The New York State Assembly. Further, that same year, the You Can Go to College Committee honored her with their Outstanding Community Media Award.
As comfortable as Gail Lewis is in front of the camera as TV Host of Queens Public Television’s Communication Corner, she can also be found behind the scenes as a member of the crew of Caribbean Classroom, the longest running Caribbean-American talk show in the United States. Additionally, Ms. Lewis’ monthly columns may be found locally in The Hempstead-Uniondale Times and The Long Island Dispatch Newspaper.
An avid skier, and blogger, Gail bakes a tasty bread pudding and never passes up an opportunity to watch Star Trek with her family.
