The inaugural “Essence of Love” Retreat, a unique and meaningful event, was a complete sellout. Founders Jody Ferguson and her husband, Lancelot Ferguson, crafted the Retreat with a distinct approach, aiming to help couples solidify their relationships and rediscover their love for each other. The Retreat celebrates the positives in each relationship and builds upon them, fostering an authentic and deep connection. The Fergusons’ ethos is “to never stop falling in love with your significant other, keep dating them like you did from day one, to not get complacent.”
Marriage is challenging; it is all about embracing each other in every way, in similarities and differences; appreciation is vital for a fulfilling and committed solid relationship. The “Essence of Love” Retreat is about supporting these standards and endorsing love goals. The beauty of the Retreat is that it encourages one of the critical practices before they have even started. Traveling with a partner can allow for expansion and deeper connections within a partnership. By attending the Retreat, each couple has opened up to receive the messages awaiting them.
Jody and Lancelot Ferguson believe that to have a fruitful and meaningful marriage requires constant work and falling in love over and over again with the same person. The Retreat was born from a need to celebrate, care for, and nourish connections with like-minded couples. Traveling to the Retreat also opens each couple up to a certain level of vulnerability; each couple is in a safe space equal to all parties, allowing genuine healing and growth to occur.
“A great marriage is not when the ‘perfect couple’ comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences,” says Dave Meurer.
Due to the event’s phenomenal success, The Fergusons’ are committed to continuing its mission. They will host a series of digital discussions and regional workshops, reaffirming their dedication to helping couples strengthen their relationships. Despite what we see daily in the world and in the media, love is still worth fighting for, and many are willing to keep trying.
